1953 Barndoor progress at Paul Wisk RestoNew progress on my '53 Barndoor has been made by Paul Wisk Resto's (PWR) in the United Kingdom. Quality work again by Paul Wisk at PWR on this huge project. The bus is measured out, straightened, and spot welded together. Only some minor tweaking is necessary before everything can be welded together. It's starting to look like a bus again!! I uploaded some new pictures Paul send me in the gallery, be sure to check them out ...and check out the PWR Facebook page aswell and like that page!

1951 Headliner UpholsteryYesterday (21-06-2011) we went to pick up my '51 CC splitwindow beetle from René van Brunschot at his upholstery shop www.KeverMagazijn.nl. The new headliner and b-pillar upholstery is all finished and looking very good! Thanks a lot René for this great work, I'm very happy with the result.
As we did all the mecanical work before we dropped it off at René's shop I could test-drive it back home to our garage. I had (and still have) a smile from ear to ear as it's a good and fun driver. Rollin' on those 16", double clutching, the noise from that engine and gearbox ...yes I love it! Next stop Bad Camberg, see you this weekend!?

1951 Headliner UpholsteryMonday 16-06-2011 I had to drop off the windows from my '51 CC splitwindow beetle at René van Brunschot from the www.KeverMagazijn.nl, so he could continue the work on my car. It's getting a new headliner and b-pilar upholstery. It looks great, a big contrast to the rest of the original / old cloth but it's all part of the continuing story and history of this original Dutch car. I can't wait to pick it up and make a couple of test-runs before we cruise to Bad Camberg this weekend!

Finally more progress on my '51 CC splitwindow!

Finally more progress on my '51 CC spiltwindow!Yes finally we made more progress on the 1951 CC split again. With a big thanks to my buddy Marco for all the help on getting all the brakes renewed and finished, the gearbox and engine checked, adjusted, filled it all up with fresh oil, etc, etc. The only thing it needs now is a 6 volt battery and it's a go!
But before that I wanted to put a new headliner and b-pilar upholstery in the car. So I made an appointment with René van Brunschot at the Kevermagazijn.nl who does a very good job in (vintage) VW upholstery work. So my girl and I had to get rid of the old headliner and prep it so René can start working on it immediately as it needs to be ready before this years Bad Camberg! It will be the split's first big trip, well with me as a driver that is, I can't wait!
I'll keep you posted on the progress, here are some pictures of the progress so far!
