Hoffmann Speedster getting together for the second and great time

Sunday morning, July 9th, was the date for the second edition of the Hoffmann Speedster Classic Day in Hattingen, Germany. It was early morning, and already we had bright sunshine and summer heat, with 38° degrees predicted for the afternoon. The location is amazing, though there’s not much shade, but the grounds of the LWL Henrichshütte Industrial Museum, a former ironworks in the heart of the Ruhr region, certainly make a great backdrop for this event! Beetles, Buses, Karmanns, Kübelwagens, Type3s, and even some water-cooled Porsches and Golfs began rolling in around 10.00am. [FULL ARTICLE AIRMIGHTY #52]

Hoffmann Speedster Classic Day 2:

On July 9, 2023, air-cooled Volkswagen enthousiasts gathered in large good for the Hoffmann Speedster Classic Day 2. This annual event, held at a picturesque location, brought together an impressive lineup of classic VWs. Here’s a little report of this day.

The Venue

The Hoffmann Speedster Classic Day 2 took place on the grounds of an old industrial museum of the LWL Museum Henrichshütte in Hattingen, Germany. A truly perfect setting for a day filled with VW, Porsche not other classic and vintage automotive passion!

The Classic VWs

The show attracted a wide range of air-cooled VWs. From gleaming Beetle Cabriolets to rugged T2 Transporters, each classic had its own story. Lovingly restored models stood side by side, forming a colorful tribute to Volkswagen’s rich history.

Chatting about your car

To participate in the show and shine you had to enter a little podium, where you could tell the visitors and spectators about your car. This is always a very interesting thing, as this way you know more and more about these models and their owners. The judges had a tough task selecting the best VWs. After much deliberation, the end of the day the winners were announced.

Number of Participants

More than 150 proud VW owners participated in the show. They hailed from all corners of the Germany and like us driving down from The Netherlands. The passion for air-cooled VWs connects people and creates a warm community.

Ready for 2024

And now for the exciting news: the Hoffmann Speedster Classic Day 3 is already in the works for 2024! Mark the date on your calendar, polish your VW, and get ready for more camaraderie, gleaming engine bays, and the sound of air-cooled motors. See you on 23 June 2024!

Schedule

9.30 a.m.: Entry of the first participating vehicles
11.00 a.m.: Official opening by organisers
11:15 a.m.: From vehicle presentation onwards all day on the stage
16:00: Trophy presentation
18:00: End of the event

Tickets for the Hoffmann Speedster Classic Day on 23 June 2024 are available in advance. Tickets are also available at the box office.

Box office prices: Participant tickets are valid per vehicle incl. driver and cost just 12 euros. Each additional passenger/co-driver aged 16 and over pays 12 euros.Visitor tickets (without car) from the age of 16 cost 12 euros.NEW: Free admission for children and young people under the age of 16 when accompanied by an adult!

Advance booking prices: Participant tickets per vehicle incl. driver are available in advance for 10 euros. Each additional passenger/co-driver aged 16 and over pays only 10 euros in advance.Visitor tickets (without car) from the age of 16 cost 10 euros in advance.NEW: Free admission for children and young people under the age of 16 when accompanied by an adult!

The ticket prices include admission (5 euros) to the LWL-Museum Henrichshütte.
