Yannick Glassée’s killer ’64 Cal Look Bug graced the cover of AirMighty #39. Now he decided to tackle a simpler project car, concentrating on an 1957 Oval that follows the Old Speed guidelines.

Sliding on ice ‘56
With its L41 VW Black paint, hand-painted logos, this Swedish racecar looks hard as nails.

Over the Top Type 34
Paul Warman’s Best of Show-winning ’65 Type 34, built by Andy Finch, is one we took into the photo studio for some very clean shots.

Outlaw 356 Racer
James Rudland’s slammed and perfectly finished coupe has the soul of an air-cooled Volkswagen and is a show winner everywhere it goes.

1954 Rear Hatch Barndoor
Bob Cook is no stranger to the pages of AirMighty, with his latest project being a 2.3-litre ’54 Kombi with a mega-rare optional hatch.

The plan for this Swedish January 1957 Oval was simple: Keep the patina and build an Old Speed car out of it… but they took it a couple of steps further… way further!

Ice Racing in Sweden
We drove our ‘52 Old Speed Beetle to the Cold Balls 2024 ice race weekend at Depå Grande, to play on a frozen lake in Rissna, Sweden. It was again an unforgettable experience! Read about the full road trip here.

AirMighty Cruise 2 Ninove
On 10 March 2024, we organised the 15th edition of the “AirMighty Cruise 2 Ninove”. Always great fun cruising together in a big convoy from the Netherlands to the streets of Ninove in Belgium.

Freddy Files aka “Ninove”
The annual Freddy Files show took place in Ninove, Belgium. This event attracts Volkswagen enthusiasts from all corners of Europe, a great place to see our friends again!

VolksWorld Plus Show
This was the first “Plus” edition of the VolksWorld Show. The magazine’s publishing company joined forces with their other publications, gathering not only air-cooled VWs but also water-cooled VWs and Classic Porsches.

41. Mai Käfer Treffen, Hanover
“May Day” is “parts hunting day”. Early start in Hanover at the biggest one-day VW show in the world, where it’s always great to trade with AirMighty and see our friends again!

May Cruise Madness
The DFL was organising their annual May Cruise Madness cruise night again the evening before the big Mai Käfer Treffen event in Hanover’s “Messe”, which we of course visited.

Menton VW Meeting
A small town in the south of France has been the “European California” for air-cooled VWs in mid-August, for over 30 years.
